Compost time

October is one of the busiest of times for composter sales, as gardeners are confronted with loads of dying plants and fallen leaves. It makes perfect sense to put these in a compost bin and turn it into rich, nutritious soil that you can use in garden planters, raised beds etc. when it is ready after the garden waste has decomposed.

Gardenis sells 3 different composters. A 220 litre, a 330 litre and a 600 litre. The 220 and 330 are available in green or black, and with or without a base (a base is best if you are placing the composter on a patio or drive. If on a lawn or in a garden border, a base isn't necessary, and an open bottom can let worms into the composter, which can speed up the composting.) The 600 litre for larger gardens is also insulated, so will compost over winter, as heat is what breaks down the decomposing garden waste. More info below -
