Jerusalem artichoke has edible tubers. Online I read they taste like a 'nutty potato'. However, a friend who has tried them says they taste like 'wallpaper paste'. Doesn't sound quite as appetising! As you can see above ground they look great, so even if you don't want to eat the tubers, it can be worth growing one, or more, in a garden border, as they have loads of bright yellow flowers, on long stems.
